Totally worth it
My girlfriend and I had a great time exploring Stonehenge!!! The exhibition at the museum near Stonehenge with all the Neolithic artifacts discovered in the area was very enjoyable, too. All in all, the tour was really worth it, especially because of the hotel pickup and dropoff.
Much better than a regular group tour!
I absolutely loved visiting Stonehenge in a private group. Our driver was on time, polite and friendly. When we got to Stonehenge, it was nice to explore and look around without someone rushing us!

ARRIVE AT STONEHENGE
Upon arriving, walk up to the UK's most famous prehistoric site. Situated in Wiltshire, Stonehenge's prominent position sticks out on the Salisbury plains. As you approach the megalithic monument, you will be able to see its main features: concentric circles of stone surrounded by a ditch and bank. It consists of two stone circles, with the outer one being taller and made of sarsen stones. Some of these stones form the so-called trilithons, which is a formation of two vertical stones that support the third horizontal stone on top of them. There are five such formations, although not all are fully intact. The largest one, known as the Great Trilithon, collapsed. Did you know that it stood around 30 feet (9 meters) high? The weight of that stone is an astounding 30 tons!
A UNIQUE WORLD HERITAGE SITE
Stonehenge was built around 2500 BCE. However, recent archaeological studies show that there was an even older structure present at the site. During the earliest phase, Stonehenge looked entirely different. Comprised solely of smaller bluestones, it formed a much wider stone circle, with each stone weighing around 3 tons. Now, here's the fun part: did you know that these bluestones were transported some 250 kilometers (150 mi) from the Preseli Hills in Wales? There is an obvious question that springs to mind. How on Earth did prehistoric people manage to transport such stones across 250 kilometers?! Possibly an even bigger question is why they put so much effort into bringing precisely these stones in the first place. Some things we may never know for sure!
